April Brews Day started in 2001 when Max Higbee Center had a need for funding, a partnership with Boundary Bay Brewery, and a wild idea to create Bellingham’s first beer festival. Max Higbee Center is a grassroots organization founded by educators and families of people with developmental disabilities who wanted quality recreation opportunities in Whatcom County.
