Max Higbee Center Open Positions:

Recreation Leader

Have fun, play sports, cook, dance, exercise, create art and get paid! Does it get any better? Come work with an inspirational team and support teens and adults with developmental disabilities as they achieve greater independence, experience personal growth, have fun, improve their health, and build friendships.

Schedule is flexible and contingent upon availability; ideally averaging around 10-25 hours per week with room for growth as desired. Program shifts run Monday through Saturday; a schedule will be determined collaboratively upon hire.

More about the job:

This is a direct-service position that supports folks in engaging in a wide range of recreational activities. As a Recreation Leader, you will help prepare and lead activities and community outings for our members in large and small group settings. During an average week you might be supporting our members on a hiking trip, visiting the library, heading to the gym or helping someone learn a new skill or hobby. Activities are either based at our downtown facility or within the larger community.

This job is for you if you possess a passion for community and welcoming recreation opportunities for all people; are able to transport a heavy (10 lb+) backpack and cover up to 5 miles per shift; support our mission and like working with people in a self-directed environment.

 

One-on-One Service Provider

This is a direct-service position that supports folks in engaging in a wide range of recreational activities. The primary role is to support teens and adults with developmental disabilities through individualized community-based recreation services. These one-on-one services empower individuals to achieve goals through exploring interests and recreation in the community, while maintaining a fun, inclusive and safe environment. Each service varies greatly from person to person and is based on a member's level of independence, need for support, goals for the service, progress throughout the service and other factors.

This job is for you if you possess a passion for community and welcoming recreation opportunities for all people; are able to transport a heavy (10 lb+) backpack and cover up to 5 miles per shift; support our mission and like working with people in a self-directed environment; and most especially, are a creative problem solver looking to find individualized solutions that meet members’ needs, goals, and preferences.
