A collaborative poem written and shared by Naaman Hinton, Max Higbee Center Board Member
"Question, who are we at Max Higbee?
Simply said, the answer to that question is,
A truly unique group of awesome individuals with disabilities.
Basically a comforting place supporting adults and teens,
Basically a comforting place supporting adults and teens,
Where diversity is definitely the key.
Growing close bonds together, like a family tree,
Growing close bonds together, like a family tree,
Strengthening one another to always believe in their dreams.
Collectively building a list of friendships that are honestly sweet,
Collectively building a list of friendships that are honestly sweet,
Like many drops of honey to go along with your tea.
Bolstering essential skills, health and positivity,
Bolstering essential skills, health and positivity,
While sharing happiness and abundance throughout the community.
This place is great you see. It provides a window of opportunity
For families to take a break and care for certain things
Like shopping for groceries and other important daily needs.
And you can search and search all around multiple towns,
And you can search and search all around multiple towns,
Yet the fact is a place like this cannot be found.
The reason being is everything you are seeing is truly one of a kind.
The reason being is everything you are seeing is truly one of a kind.
That atmosphere here is so sincere, it's abundantly clear,
That genuine love of friendships are beautifully intertwined.
And more than likely you already know,
And more than likely you already know,
Challenges in life seem to remain the same and never change, Soooo
"Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name.
Boom, boom, boom, boom. And they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see our troubles are all the same.
You wanna be where you can see our troubles are all the same.
You wanna be where everybody knows your name".
Not only do they know your name, everybody is delighted to be seen. It's true.
Not only do they know your name, everybody is delighted to be seen. It's true.
The fact remains, this is a safe place where it is comfortable to be authentically you.

As they pick up and drop off friends regularly, they could easily see.
It describes the theme of Max Higbee Center to a "T."
Speaking of the center of Mr. Higbee, who was he?
Speaking of the center of Mr. Higbee, who was he?
I'm glad you asked, as a matter of fact, Max was a humble humanitarian who saw a need
Regarding individuals with disabilities promoting inclusiveness in this society.
In special education, Max received his PhD.
In special education, Max received his PhD.
And with warmth and kindness, he developed a drop-in center,
Making it a little better to succeed in this beautiful community.
Any given day, laughter permeates the entire room.
Members often mention, they can't hardly wait to come back soon.
Interacting with society, so they can see,
Any given day, laughter permeates the entire room.
Members often mention, they can't hardly wait to come back soon.
Interacting with society, so they can see,
In the scheme of things, there's not much difference between you and me,
Us and we, are all human beings,
Facing many mountains and other challenging things,
Some can be quite obvious,
However the majority are not easily seen.
It is about time for these rhymes about Max Higbee Center to be concluded,
It is about time for these rhymes about Max Higbee Center to be concluded,
This place is especially Grrrreat! because of genuine inclusion,
Wall-to-wall amazingness, full of smiling faces where everybody is included."
